About this project

What we’re building and why

Our Own 90s Weather Channel, Powered by WeatherStar 4000+ is the Grove’s deployed instance of the open-source WeatherStar 4000+ project.

Gigabyte Grove runs two Docker-hosted feeds: one tuned to the South Georgia area around the Grove and another for Syracuse, New York. They provide the familiar Local-on-the-8s-style flow with current conditions, forecast information, radar, and the unmistakable visual character of the classic Weather Channel era.

The project is both useful and nostalgic: it turns modern NOAA-backed data into an always-available local display that can be dropped onto dashboards and screens around the property.
