About

Project overview

Tapo Local is a Home Assistant custom integration for local-first TP-Link, Kasa, and Tapo devices.

It is built for direct LAN control, deterministic protocol selection, and a clear separation between local device operation and TP-Link cloud services. Modern authenticated devices can use owner credentials during setup when the device protocol requires them, while normal operation remains focused on the local network.

The integration includes ongoing work around Kasa/Tapo switches and the DL100 smart lock, including persistent local-session handling and automatic session renewal when the device invalidates an old session.
